Getting Connected your PlayStation to Internet
Collect the essential items: Only PlayStation 3 is can be connected to the Internet. Also, make sure that you have fast speed internet connection (either wired or wireless), and a wireless router or a spare Ethernet cable. Once you collect these system items follow these simple steps to get your PlayStation connected to the Internet:
For Wired Internet Connections
PlayStation users who have a DSL (Digital Subscription Line) or a Cable Modem falls under this category. Also, if you are using WiMax with indoor CPE and Ethernet cable you need to follow these steps:
1. Go to the Home page and then look through ‘SELECT’. Go to ‘Network Settings’ and then to ‘Internet Settings’ and go for ‘Enable’.
2. Now go to ‘Internet Connection Settings’, press the X button, and click on ‘Yes’ to proceed further.
3. The screen will display ‘Select Method’, select ‘Easy’, and then select ‘Wired Connection’.
4. Connect your Ethernet cable to the socket in the PlayStation.
5. Press the X button to save the settings. Now run a test application to check whether you have been connected successfully.
For Wireless Internet Connections
If you are using PlayStation in a room where WiFi or Wireless routers are installed then you’d need different settings to get connected to the internet. Here’s the instruction set for users with wirless connections.
First three steps are same, the remaining should be followed carefully:
3. The screen will display ‘Select Method’, select ‘Easy’, and then select ‘Wireless Connection’.
4. Now Select Scan to find the wireless signals available because sometimes in public areas there is more than one WiFi installed. Select the one whose name is known to you, enter the name and press X button to proceed.
5. Now you need to enter the identification key or the subscription key of your connection. If you are in a public area and using a public WiFi you can ask the network administrator for the key. If your network has no key select none and press X button to continue.
6. You will see a display of your connection settings, press X buttin to approve them and run a test session to see if you have been connected to the internet successfully.
…and bingo! You see, connecting PlayStation to Internet is so simple and easy!
